Acceptable Use Policy

Why we have this policy

Viremail is shared infrastructure. One abusive account can get our servers blocked by other providers and harm everyone's mail delivery. This policy forms part of our Terms of Service.

Spam and bulk mail

• Do not send unsolicited commercial or bulk email. Follow our Anti-Spam Policy.
• Do not use purchased, rented, scraped or harvested address lists.
• Do not try to get around sending limits, for example by using several accounts or aliases. Viremail is a personal and business mailbox, not a bulk-mailing platform.

Phishing, fraud and malware

• Do not send phishing messages or try to collect other people's passwords, payment details or personal data by deception.
• Do not send or link to viruses, ransomware, spyware or other malicious code.
• Do not use the service for scams, fraud or money laundering.

Illegal and harmful content

• Do not store or send content that is illegal in the United Kingdom, including child sexual abuse material, which we will report to the relevant authorities.
• Do not promote terrorism or violent extremism, or incite violence.
• Do not infringe copyright, trade marks or other people's rights.

Harassment and impersonation

• Do not harass, threaten, bully, stalk or intimidate anyone.
• Do not impersonate another person or organisation, or forge message headers to hide who you are.
• Do not send messages to people who have clearly asked you to stop.

Chat and calls

• Do not use chat or calls to send spam, repeated unwanted calls, or abusive content.
• Do not record other people on calls without their knowledge where the law requires consent.
• Do not use calls to share illegal content.

Security and system abuse

• Do not try to access accounts, systems or data you are not authorised to access.
• Do not probe, scan or test our systems except under our responsible disclosure rules.
• Do not overload the service, run automated sign-in attempts, or interfere with other users.
• Do not create accounts in bulk or by automated means.

Enforcement

If we reasonably believe this policy has been broken, we may, depending on how serious it is:

1. send you a warning;
2. limit or pause sending from your account;
3. remove specific content or block specific messages;
4. suspend your account;
5. close your account permanently;
6. report illegal activity to the appropriate authorities.

We may act immediately where there is a risk of serious harm, or to protect the service's reputation with other mail providers. Where it is safe and lawful, we will tell you what we did and why. If you think we made a mistake, contact us via the contact details on our website and we will review it.
