Law Enforcement & Government Requests

Our principles

• We respect our users' privacy and will only disclose data when legally required to.
• We review every request carefully and push back on requests that are unclear, too broad or not legally valid.
• We disclose only the minimum data needed to comply.

Legal process required

Svayam Incarnation Limited is based in the United Kingdom. We require valid UK legal process (such as a court order, a warrant, or a request under the Investigatory Powers Act 2016 or other applicable UK law) before disclosing user data.

Authorities outside the UK should use the appropriate international process, such as a Mutual Legal Assistance request, or an applicable international agreement recognised in UK law.

What data we may hold

Depending on the account and its settings, we may hold:

• account details (name, email address, recovery email, creation date);
• sign-in logs (time, IP address, device type) for up to 90 days;
• stored messages, contacts, calendars, notes and chat messages that the user has not deleted.

We cannot decrypt end-to-end encrypted message content, because we do not have users' private keys. We do not record calls, so we have no call recordings to provide.

Notifying users

We will tell affected users about requests for their data before disclosing it, so they have a chance to challenge it, unless we are legally prohibited from doing so or the request concerns an emergency involving risk to life. Where we were prohibited from giving notice, we will notify the user once the prohibition ends.

Emergencies

Where we believe in good faith that there is an imminent risk of death or serious physical harm, we may disclose limited information to the relevant authorities without a court order, as permitted by law.

Transparency

We intend to publish information about the number and types of requests we receive, to the extent the law allows.

How to submit a request

Authorities should send requests via the contact details on our website, or by post to [Postal address for legal process (to be added)]. Requests must be on official letterhead, identify the account concerned and cite the legal basis.
