Anti-Spam Policy
Last updated 26 September 2026Effective 26 September 2026
Our approach
We do not allow spam. Incoming mail is checked by our spam filter (Rspamd), and outgoing mail is monitored for signs of abuse so that Viremail stays trusted by other mail providers.
Consent
If you send marketing or bulk messages you must follow UK law, including the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR). In particular:
- Only email people who have clearly agreed to receive your messages, or existing customers where the "soft opt-in" rules apply.
- Keep a record of when and how each person agreed.
- Never use bought, rented, scraped or shared lists.
Unsubscribing
- Every marketing message must say who it is from and include a simple, free way to unsubscribe.
- Honour unsubscribe requests promptly, and in any case within a few days.
- Do not use misleading subject lines or disguise the sender.
Sending limits
To protect the service, we limit how many messages and recipients an account can send in a given period. Current limits: [Sending limits (per hour / per day / recipients per message) (to be added)].
These limits are designed for normal personal and business use. Viremail is not a bulk-mailing platform. If you need to send newsletters, use a dedicated service built for that purpose.
Accounts that send a high volume of mail that bounces, or is marked as spam by recipients, may have sending paused while we investigate.
Reporting spam
If you receive spam in Viremail, use the Report spam action. This moves it to Junk and helps train the filter.
If you receive spam from a Viremail address, contact us via the contact details on our website, including the full message headers (use "Show original"). We investigate every report.
Consequences
Breaking this policy may lead to sending limits, suspension or closure of your account, as described in the Acceptable Use Policy.
