Turn on two-step verification

With two-step verification, signing in needs your password and a six-digit code from an authenticator app on your phone.

1. Open Settings, Security.
2. Under Two-step verification, choose Turn on and enter your password.
3. Scan the QR code with your authenticator app, or type the key shown.
4. Enter the six-digit code the app shows.
5. Save your backup codes. Download or copy them and keep them somewhere safe.

Each backup code works once, for when your phone is lost or broken. If you run low, choose New backup codes; the old ones stop working.
